CNC Milled Espresso - Pt 1: We Take Screenshots Inconsistently
On Monday Chantal and I revisted our espresso cup design on Rhino to get the flow along curve correct and the step-down design working.
^ This was the issue we were trying to solve: when we created a flat template and tried to run it along the curved half-cup surface, there was always a skew and the form was left with areas without our extruded pattern.
^ After trial and error, we made our flat template bigger to wrap the entire thing then deleting the extra geometry. We wanted at an angle so the pattern would be curved.
^ Then we could detail the pattern to leave a lip, and boolean difference the geometry to create a perforated cup.
To add the detail we wanted, we created a round perforated cup, then did a series of copies that went through the steps decreasing the scale and adding a 1.5 degree turn, or twist.
Final Cup ready in Rhino
{Fusion360 screen shot will be here SOON}
^Then we transferred it into Fusion360 to create the guurbull... the toolpath G-code :D... using the guide Bryan made for us.
