Pretenzesso: CNC Sample - Concept & Design

Chantal and I were paired together and soon after chatting we discovered a similar love for coffee. How surprising :) 

We decided to design a pretentious espresso cup. Ornate and over the top. 

 

Our cup was inspired by this complex pattern that is repeated and scaled to create depth. We began by creating the base cup for the CNC sample. 

We created a pattern based off the espresso portafilers.

To wrap the extruded pattern around the cup, we gained the advice from Bryan to use a tutorial that allows you to flow objects around a surface. 

We plan to boolean difference the pattern out of the cup, so we can then scale and twist it to have depth in the pattern like our inspiration image. As a little detail we'll put our name, Pretenzesso, on the lid.
